Eyjafjallajokull Natural Disaster: 13 Jaw Dropping Volcano Photography
Well, this post is totally inspired by the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull volcano (pronounced AY-uh-full-ay-ho-kul) that brought chaos to Europe, paralyzing air communication and keeping millions of people trapped in the airports the last few days.
Photographers had gotten far closer to active volcanoes, sharks, edge of giant rocks and many magnificent places across the world. Today we would like to showcase 13 Jaw Dropping Eyjafjallajokull Volcano Photography, you won’t even wish you were there.

This aerial image shows the crater spewing ash and plumes of grit at the summit of the volcano in southern Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull glacier.
The ash plume is lit from within by multiple flashes of lightning in this 168 second exposure.

It’s not a natural disaster. It’s a natural phenomenon with a disastrous outcome…
Agreed. please rename…
Beautiful photos!
good call.
Ehm, as opposed to hurricanes and earthquakes?
How would you define a disaster as something else than an event with a disastrous outcome?
If there’s the best jaw-dropping volcano photography I saw, it’s this: http://blogs.ngm.com/.a/6a00e009822691883301157204df3b970b-800wi
I saw that in a Nat Geo mag. It’s Mt. Pinatubo when it erupted. The explosion was so devastating that the planet later experience a global cooling…
That picture is tragic however. The pyroclastic flow behind them overtook the people in the truck and killed them.
Breathtaking!
Wow that is truly amazing. Those images are incredible.
Patiently waiting for the spectacular sunsets that follow. Thank you for the amazing photos.
There’s always something amazing about undecorated unadulterated shots of nature doing its thing. This one’s too insidious to not be taken seriously.
What an amazing photography. How did the photographer gets so close to taking such incredible shots?
Great pics. Ask me to spell Eyjafjallajokull 1000 times and I will get ti wrong. Thank god for spell check.
The pictures are almost surreal looking. It’s crazy how beautiful yet destructive something can be.
Does anyone happen to kno if there have been some really good HQ videos taken? I’d absolutely kill for the chance to film some good Hi-Def videos up there right now. I’m just really curious as to how “active” this volcano is as these pictures only show so much movement in them.
stunning pictures, but I still don’t know how to pronounce the name of this volcano!
